And its at least twice the price of buying it at your local supermarket ie its about R30 to R35 for a 5l bottle as opposed to between R15 and R18 "normally" :D

MTN signal seems more reliable at TR than Vodacom ( SO has MTN and I have Vodacom) but it can get knocked out for a couple of hours, especially when they have bad thunderstorms ....

You should be able to get ice everywhere - the big problem comes in during those school holidays when the shops at MM and Nossob only get a delivery once a week - but next week should be fine - ditto with firewood...

Have a stunning trip - enjoy every moment - we are all   I assure you !! :D

Hi

We will be spending a few days at Gharagab in December, and plan to spend much of the time on the deck.

Can anyone tell me if there is some type of awning on the deck or would it be advisable to take a "beach-umbrella" along?

Many thanks
William

No need to take umbrella as it is covered.

Hi everyone!

I was hoping you could give me a quick update on the condition of the road between Melkvlei and Nossob. With the fact that one can now get to Kij-Kij it becomes an option to reach Nossob from Twee Rivieren without heading over to the Auob and crossing one of the dune roads, but this section has traditionally been horribly corrugated.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Hi there,

Morkel 777, I have send you a PM, but for the other mites, the road has just been graded so for the next few weeks it would be fine to drive on as there is not so much traffic at the moment.

@NeillIT

The road between samevloeiing and rooiputs is open, from there you would take the rooiputs turn off (at the rooiputs waterhole)for about 15m then turn left on the botswana side (no permit needed for thios part of the botswana road) and the road joins the road at Kij Kij.

Hope it helps

Just a follow up.

The deck (at Gharagab) is not covered in any way! An umbrella or similar would have been great.
A gezebo won't work because there are two great big poles in the middle of the deck.

I will devise some kind of shelter next time I go...
