Hallo together,

sorry about my question, but I´m unsure:

We enter the KTP at Mata Mata. Is it possible to buy the wildcard there in the office, or can I buy it only in Twee Rivieren?

Thank you for answer.
I read it here in the Forum, but the post is from 2005, and so much have changed.

best wishes
Pascalinah

Dear Pascalinah,

Many thanks for your query. You are able to buy your Wild Card at Mata Mata but we recommend that you buy it online before arrival. You will be issued with a Wild Card number (just as you will at Mata Mata, as Wild Cards are not issued in parks) and this numbver can be used to access all the relevant parks (please bring identification, eg passport).

If there are further questions, please let me know.

Kind regards.

JOEP

Has anybody got an idea when the Wildcards will be issued. I purchased mine (renewed) on line in January. When i enquired I was informed it will be posted in March. It is April already.......

It seems that the map of Mata Mata camp on the website is the old one (only shows 8 chalets) and the new river frontage units are not on there. Does anyone have a new map please?

Hi guys,

when you enter KTP from namibia through Mata Mata as day visitor,
at what time do the gates close for leaving the park in the evening ?

Is it really 16:00 ????

Thanks,
Mathias

@Mathias,

Welcome to the forum, hope you will have a great time here.

As per your request regarding a day visit in the park. You will have to be through the gate on the latest 16h30 (that is when the border closes). Just keep in mind that during the winter Namibia would be an hour behind us so you will have to make sure about the time difference.

Thanks for your quick reply

Just to make it clear: The gate (border) closes approx. 1 hour before sunset ?

Cheers,
Mathias

The border post closes at 16h30. Just make sure about the time difference during the winter months as the Namibian border times then change.

Hope it helps

Hi JuanitaMK

As far as I know there are no communal freezer/fridge facilities at any of the main camps for campers. You have to bring your own fridge/freezer. Also bear in mind that the power at Mata Mata is from a generator that they switch off from about 10pm to 5am.

We had a problem a few years ago when our fridge broke half way through our trip, while we were staying at MataMata - and there were definately no communal fridges/freezers.

Jo
