I am a relation of Colonel James Stevenson-Hamilton of the Kruger National Park. I have written a book about the Stevenson family which includes background and biographical information (some never before published) about the colonel and the Scottish family he came from. I hope it might be of interest to members of the forum. It is called Jobs for the Boys: the Story of a Family in Britain's Imperial Heyday. A synopsis and details can be seen at www.dovebooks.co.uk.
The colonel's son, Jamie Stevenson-Hamilton, was fully behind the project and helped me to get the book published.

Hi Hew

I met his son a few years ago. I was with FNB at the time and we had some business dealings. The family still owns a farm near the Kruger. My grandfather was head of the old Railways and the family holiday to the Kruger was by train. The train stopped just outside Skukuza. They would return after each drive to the carraige for lunch and to sleep at night.

A warm welcome to you HewStevenson, :D interesting name you have there. I know that there are relatives who only bear the surname Stevenson.

I am a third of the way through the book "Wildlife and Warfare, The Life of James Stevenson Hamilton", by Jane Carruthers. So far I found it fascinating and so interesting. I am just so inspired by this man. I would love to read more.
