Hi mites. Don't suppose any of you have tips on how we can avoid the crowds on the public holiday weekend of the 9th and 10th August?!

Hi, Graham_5000. Sadly to be in the southern parts of the park over these periods will mean you will be bound to except the crowds. I can't think of a way to avoid them. Maybe the best bet would be to leave at gate opening time (that is if you stay overnight at Pretoriuskop Camp) and in doing so you will have at least some hours of peace and quietness on the roads.

Get onto the gravel roads.

Thanks.. setting out early and heading away from gates on gravel roads is probably the answer then. Might spend more time just sitting and waiting at a waterhole in the Pkop region; I find it is always tempting to cover ground, rather than wait.

One our lasting memories from the last trip is parking up down a road that led nowhere and "Staking out" a puddle. The hour we were there we had 20 species of birds and 3 species of antelope come to visit. And no cars. Bliss.
