We have got a reservation for marakele very soon at the Tlopi camp and I just want to know what are the current road conditions in the park. Is it safe to drive with a normal vehicle there?
Is it easy to go to the tented camp t the moment?

We were at Marekele for easter weekend. Roads are at the moment very bad due to lot of rain espesially the road from the tunnel up to the tar road.There is a grader parked at the entrance so hopefully it will be graded soon.

I would like to get an update on the road conditions. We are planning a visit end of September and will be driving with an hired minibus (probably a Toyota Quantum). Will we be able to get up to the viewing point in that?

The road to the lookout point on top of Aasvoelkop is tarred - but narrow and steep in places. You should not have problems with this piece of road.

There are some photos of the different roads (amongst a lot of other photos of Marakele) on my website (AfricaBliss) in the MARAKELE GALLERY.

There is a section of gravel from the gate and/or Tlopi camp to the tar road - the condition of this can vary depending on rain and grading. Not sure how it looks right now.
