Have just returned from a 5 day stay at Mapungubwe. I found the Eco Trail a bit confusing. The start is on the Tshugulu Lodge road which you need to accesss from the tar road. Is this trail reserved for Thugulu Lodge only? Do persons not staying at the lodge have to pay an additional fee?We were camping at Mazou & ended up arriving at the start point! All roads in the area are so intertwined that one does not know what is private or reserved & what is not. Cheers, Bud

Hi Bud.
Yes, it is confusing at the moment, since many of the markings have been damaged. The good news are that the Honorary Rangers are busy with a project to repair this, and it will soon be rectified.
As I understand it, you are supposed to register at reception and will then receive a map. I am not sure whether there is a cost involved.
