Hi Ronnie and JJ and all the lucky folks who visit Addo. I have spent the best part of the afternoon catching up on my favourite forum thread, and love the pics of the BBJ and the large herd of Eland. We are so lucky to have you Ronnie and JJ giving us such beautiful photos to keep us going. Three months in Australia was a bit much for us. It was lovely to see the family and the grandchildren, but I think three weeks in Addo would go down better. What kills me is the plane trip. And also the lack of any interesting animals. So the kids will have to visit us = and maybe I will arrange to spend some time with them in Addo. The little ones will see wild animals in the wild and not in a zoo. So all in all I am glad to be back home and ready to catch up on all the forum threads. Thanks for your most interesting photos and commentary. Regards, Delene

There are wild animals in Australia.
You only have to watch Aussie Rules Football!!!

Hi there JDW. You are telling me - Footy seems to be very dangerous, thats where the super rugby players have learned about high/dangerous tackles. We only saw kangaroos and kaolas in a sanctuary - but I believe out in the country areas they run wild and the roos are regarded as vermin.
Thank goodness our forefathers saved a bit of S A for our wild animals. How priviledged we are!! Regards, DD

This blacked-shoulder kite lost his left eye...there is only a black hole. He must have some pain because he carefully "wiped" the eye with his claw.

I'm new to the forums, but had been lurking and reading for awhile. I wanted to thank everyone for posting about Addo. We're flying into PE and originally planned on spending a night there before continuing on to a game reserve. But after finding a link to SanParks on another forum, we're now going to spend time in Addo first!

So thank you for all the pictures and descriptions (the recent muddy lion pics are great!) We can't wait to experience it for ourselves!

jetlagged 79. Welcome to the forum and especially to Addo, You have made a wise move by planning to spend time in Addo and you will not be diappointed. A great place and we are very blessed to have such a wonderfully run National Park in the Eastern Cape. Enjoy your stay in Addo.

Thank you Delene D. We leave next week for our trip and I can't wait! We reserved a spot on the night game drive, which we haven't done anywhere before. Hope to share our experiences when we return!

Lion Queen and JJ, what amazing sightings and beautiful pictures.

I do feel sorry for the Kite :( Who could have thought that a claw could be so gentle?

Jetlagged I hope that you have a most enjoyable stay.

Ronnie, I hope that you had a really lovely day in your birthday.
