We stayed at Urikaruus during the last week of November and bee-eaters feeding their young one (still in the nests) could be found everywhere - like this one coming out its nest:

Just be on the lookout for them.

During our recent stay at TR whilst having a braai I walked from the fire to the dustbin . It was quite dark and the very same goat must have stood behind the dustbin and as I approached he suddenly took of. I probably jumped 2 meters into the air before realizing it was only a goat!
Great sightings everyone!

@WillemK! I think we drove past each other on Friday/Saturday the 30th Nov/1 Dec!
I was in a Silver Nissan Murano...you were in a Fortuner? With your wife and the long lenses?

Pity we didn't say hi to each other. I did chat to Wenzel who seemed to be part of your entourage...
:D

Hi Morkel

Yes, we saw you while we were sitting waiting for the Tawny Eagle to take off from the waterhole at Auchterlonie. We already sat there for about 45min waiting for something to happen when you arrived. I saw the "kinderkuns" on your back window and then I realised it was you. 5min after you've left us, the eagle decided to take off (I saw you had your 200x400mm lens at that stage?). Here is the photo of the younger one taking off just before you arrived:

Yes, we were in the Fortuner and you were talking to Wentzel passed Gemsbokplein when we arrived. You were watching these two lions lying in the river bed:

I am looking forward to the rest of the lion kill photos (I saw the second photo on ODP - lion through the legs of the eland - WOW) and Wentzel is  of jealousy.

Sorry to have missed you - maybe another time, another place.

Nice Tawny in flight, Willem! Those lions were useless

I didn't spend too much time with the birds on this trip due to the kids - I know other bird photographers like it to be quiet around them and if I park there, there's bound to be noise LOL

I would have cost nothing to chat with you - but you looked so focused on the birds hehe
As you say, next time!

I was shooting the 500mm. Don't have a 200-400mm as I could only get one long lens - go figure...and I'm still paying for it

I will post more of the kill in due time...still a lot of processing to do, will probably do a nice blog post and eventually do a TR about the trip.
