Has any one read this biography of the 1st ranger in Kruger. Written by Jane Carruthers?

Pjw, Jane Carruthers is regarded as one the top academics on Kruger history. I see that she has also had a book published on social and political history of the area. It was advertised in the Wild card magazine. She was one of the main contributers to the book, "Mpumalanga, History and heritage".

I would say that if you buy it, you are in for a very comprehensive read. It would have been well researched and certainly something to hold onto.

Once I stop all my ridiculous Kruger trips, I intend to buy the book myself.

Book dealers in Rivonia - 2nd Hand copy - R275.00. Seems a bit expensive but then the last copy of Memoirs of a Game Ranger - Harry Wolhuter was sold there for about R400.00!

I picked up a book of "Wildlife and Warfare"  and am a third of the way through. What a well researched and interesting book.

I am really so interested in Hamilton Stevenson's background. I am finding the context of the jouney he took illuminating. No one would have know how much he was destined to change our understanding of the wild forever.

I have just finished reading this book. Thoughtful, inspiring. I am left with a greater admiration for, the man.

It just reminds me that Kruger calls "its own". I wish I could have met him and I wonder what he would have thought of today. Perhaps, vindicated. Ever honest, a true man of integrity, it is the greatest compliment to be made any person.
