Out of interest I have caught a small Tiger Fish about 15cm in the Sand River about 25 km upstream from the confluence it has with the Sabi (This is in the Sabi Sands Reserve). So if they migrate from Mozambique, this one has made it very far but I suggest because of where it was and because the river hardly flows where I caught it and when I caught it, that maybe Tigers have bred somewhere in South Africa to get to this little pool within the reeds.
I know other guys I worked with caught +/- 2.5 kg Tigers about 3 km further downstream from where I caught mine. Nice to see the variety of fish species being good in this river

Im off to the Zambezi this weekend...hoping to catch some Tigers that side

Saw a few big Tigerfish 5-6 years ago at the low lying bridge between Skukuza and Lower Sabie... Went on a morning drive the next day and the Ranger did not believe me, he said I miss identified them... We got to the low lying bridge on the drive the ranger looked and there were 2 Tigerfish swimming in the shallows, he was amazed!

From the Lower Sabie bridge - We counted 11 close to the surface "sunbathing"
