Duques,

My dates were 5 - 7 January 2010. I changed my CO4 cottages to a GC6 cottage. The CO4 cottages never showed availible on these dates.

I'll pop it to Admin. Of course it's possible that they were rented to another person...

Duques,

Thank you. I was checking the availibility while making the change with reservations and the GC6 cottages changed immediately with 1 less number on those days but the CO4 cottages never appeared back for availibility.

Dear Alf,

Currently one of the CO4 cottages at Talamati is under construction as it was hit by lightning late in 2009.

Because of the camp being so popular, all the CO4 cottages were booked for most nights, 11 months in advance which causes a problem for the camp as they now only have 3 cottages and 4 have been booked.

They are still working on moving guests around and accommodating them in other accommodation or even camps where necessary and where possible and until they have successfully done so, they have requested us to not make the CO4 cottage available for internet bookings.

As soon as the damaged unit is fixed we will have it back on the web but until such time you are welcome to phone Talamati directly should you wish to book a CO4 cottage.
Their telephone number is 013 735 6343.

Please let me know if you have any further queries or questions.

Kindly

Thank you for the reply Bremer.

But how will payment then work if i talk directly with the camp? Will they contact the reservation office then and let then know that i booked a unit?

Why can't reservations only take away 1 unit from the availibility list to make things easier? Now they are loosing out on money from the other 3 units if all 4 are taken away from the list.

Dear Alf,

If you book directly with Talamati, they will make your booking on our system as the units have not been removed from the booking system but only from the web availability.

Your booking can be paid over the phone by credit card, at any of our reservation offices, any National Park or by making an internet or direct deposit into the SANParks bank account. www.sanparks.org/tourism/reservations/

We have in fact only taken 1 of the units from the system, so 3 are still available, but opening all booking channels for the remaining units make it difficult for Talamati to sort out their over bookings as any units that become available due to reservation amendments or cancellations are then booked by other guests before the camp has a chance to book the unit to use it to accommodate an overbooked guest.

I spoke to the camp manager at Talamati today and the expected completion date of the damaged unit is 1 October 2010, so hopefully all will return back to normal soonest.

Greetings

I have tried to email both Orpen and Talamati with requests for particular accommodation using the email addresses given in the contact information. Both emails have been returned with the message that contact was unable to be made.
Am I doing something wrong? What's the best way forward?

I sent you a PM re Orpen in case it helps.
I also notice the address I sent emails to before an got a response no problem had capital letters in...perhaps they are case sensitive.
I initially used RosinahN@sanparks.org for Orphen and received a very quick response. I'm not the most technical of people so I may be wrong.

When emails are returned with the message that contact was unable to be made it generally means that either the wrong address was typed in or that the email address is no longer active.

Try sending an email to Sanparks reservation and ask them to confirm the email address of both camps.
