What camp do you think of when you wake up in the mornings?What is the camp that whenever you book a Kruger holiday it is in.In other words what's that special camp for you gives you that warm feeling and has that special X-factor.You dream of it in the nights and you think of it in the day.What is your special camp,it doesn't have to be the best just the most special for you.

I would say Lower Sabie. Simply because it was the very first camp I set my foot in. I guess your FIRST camp will always stay with you. Sitting on the deck overlooking the river (listening to the hippos) - brilliant! What a fantastic view - all troubles of the world seems to fade away there. Can't wait to be there in 6 days time...

Amedeus, for me it's Satara. When I'm making bookings I always look or ask for Satara first! Satara is very special and we enjoy the area round Satara as well.

Punda Maria. I think it's a combination of good game viewing on the S99 and the special feel of the camp. Other camps are in good game viewing areas but don't have the atmosphere that Punda Maria has. Whether its the remoteness, the cottages, the "street", the all-in-one shop, restaurant, office and reception but its got a lovely village feel that you don't get in other camps.

GREAT thread amadeus! :thumbs_up:

For me it is most definately shingwedzi with letaba in a close second. Most of my more memorable early childhood memories come from shingwedzi, the river drive with the huge overhanging trees, the invigorating bush smell and the chorus of birds as you move through the trees, red rocks, the low water bridge, kanniedood, love it all

And its also my most favourite bridge lookout :thumbs_up:

I must agree with oddesy about shingwedzi, out of all my childhood memories shingwedzi is the most prominant one :thumbs_up:

I love the drive along the river towards shing, when i miss Kruger this is what i always tend to see

For me it is Satara and Croc Bridge

Whenever about to make a booking I have to check whether there are availabilities in these camps first. Croc Bridge is our favourite camp small and cozy with always a lot of animals on the road around the camp and Satara is the best game area in the whole park for me.

Sigh....I am planning our next trip to Kruger just right now and both camps will still have availabilities :dance:

Mine is Olifants as well. The perimeter bungalows are awesome. Sitting on the wall and just stare into the distance.

I'd have to say Punda Maria - it really has a special feel about it. Have to travel so far north though that haven't been up there for a while. Satara is always a must for me - best game viewing in Kruger; also sun sets and sounds of the bush at night are amazing when camping next to the fence. Always try to get into Marula and Belule - intimate, quiet and away from the madding crowd.

My camp is Shingwedzi – It’s funny, if I think of the Kruger, I think of the southern part. But when I think of a camp, I think of Shingwedzi! For about 5 years (2001 – 2006) we never went to Shingwedzi – don’t know why… When we got back there in Nov 2006, all my childhood memories of the place came back in an instant!

Lower Sabie will be 2nd on my list

Pretoriuskop is my favourite. Beautiful big trees and gardens. I've been there many many times and enjoy it every time.

But I would have to say a split between Lower Sabie and Satara.
