Quite a lot of excitement this morning . First , a black sparrowhawk swooped past after a laughing dove - no luck this time - and too quick to take a picture .
Then next a steppe buzzard visiting , sitting on an electric powerline pole , hoping to catch something . Too far-off ( about 250 meters ) for clear pics .
Then suddenly a confrontation between a white-tailed mongoose , and a water mongoose .

Thank you JJ I am waiting to " catch " the Black SH . He comes around regularly and I almost " had him " this morning

Whilst sitting on the stoep a few days ago , watched a couple of Hadeda Ibis foraging on the lawn , poking in the grass , probing for insects , earthworms .



Enjoying each others company , having their evening meal in companyable silence - as couples do



When along came Joe That's the local little bully-boy white tailed mongoose who had a fall-out last week with a water-mongoose .

Wow, alot of wildlife in ya'll gardens!
To share this story but I hope it will educate those again not knowing to not keep any wildlife in a cage from your garden. Not that there are any on this forum( I hope not)
Relatives of mine living on a farm excitedly last week showed me their new pet. I dreaded at the sight, a very depressed chameleon! It took some convincing to their 5 year old to let "Smartie" go, but at the end he agreed that his family is missing him terribly!

One of my old friends also bought a chameleon a while ago. She demands keeping it in the small cage, even though they have a big, beautiful garden. They named him 'Elvis'.

Yes, it's a shame Sometimes people think they're rescuing the poor creature, but that's just the opposite!

I always thought our British birds were all black or brown, but this colourful finch was feeding in my friend's garden!!
