I am going to the KTP next week for one week. What is the most important three lenses that you will take with you. This is my first trip to this park and looking forward to it.

3 is probably too many.
I take 2 bodies, generally one with an 18-200mm and one with a 170-500mm (or thereabouts).

I think any more and you'll be spending too much time changing lenses and missing shots.

Reach 400 mm or more
And for landscaping 12-18 mm

Hi Pwven
I have 2 bodies in the car with me one with a 70-200 mm and one with a 150-500 mm lens. I also have my 10-22 mm . . . Depending which camp you are in it comes in handy for sunsets and landscapes.

Agreed with the previous people, one more or less all purpose lens (18-55 or such) and a long one.
That saves changing lenses and thus dust. Bring a set to clean the sensor anyway, and on quiet moments, like when having coffee at a picnicplace shoot a blue sky to check for dust. If there is any, even only a little bit, clean it! That saves you hours processing the photos.

And use bath caps...

Hi All

Thanks for all the replies, appreciated. :D
What I need to get is a second body that will cut down on lens changes.
I will take my 70-200 and the 150-500. Will also put in my 18-200.
Is it worth taking a 100 macro lens of the camp site area?

I always have my macro 60 mm lens in my bag as well. . Have not used it that often though. On one trip there were many flowers at the Auchterlonie picnic site and I had a wonderful time using my macro lens then. If you have room I would take all your lenses...just in case :)

I always have the Canon 500D (mind you, no EOS there!) with me, which is a close-up lens that screws onto your lens like a filter. Small, easy to carry, so it's always on me.
But....

I can't remember using it in KTP. Easy, you are in the car, and not allowed out. Not safely anyway in most places. So even if you see nice flowers or insects, you can't photograph them with a macro lens, unless it's in camp.

The 100 mm macro can be used for some photos, but your 70-200 will take care of that length.

Hi DuQues...PLEASE help!!
I have a Canon 400D and I seem to be constantly fighting with dust!
Please do tell me what you use to clean the sensor because I am keen to do this without having to pay R200 each time! I have always heard conflicting advise about cleaning a sensor oneself
