Only a little bit more 3 months and half left ....

Very quiet around Pretoriuskop at the moment. Spent two nights there last week. Saw one small herd of kudu and one small herd of buffalo. One or two elephants. No impala even . Some nice birds, including lizard buzzard, brown-crowned tchagra, yellow-throated longclaw, and other small birds. But generally speaking, very very quiet especially the small loops around Pretoriuskop e.g. S14 and S7. The veld is still quite wet, with flowing water (mini "river crossings") in several spots on Voortrekker Rd and the S14.

Voortrekker Road from about Ship mountain to Afsaal more interesting, including nice lion sighting and other big five, many birds.

Also hyena den just off the tar road (H1-1, "Napi Rd" I think it's called) on the dirt road to Transport Dam.

I have to agree with Dabchick. SO, little one and I were there in April and it was also very quiet around Pretoriuskop. We try to visit the park at least twice a year and always stay at Pretoriuskop, this time round was by far the quietest we've seen it. Hoping for a bit more activity when we're there next month with the in-laws - it's the father-in-law's first visit to Kruger in his 76 years on earth

@ Dabchick : Those 'mini river crossings' that you wrote about,
will our Getz be able to do them?
Or should we rather stick on the H3 from Malelane Gate
and then the H1-1 to get to Pretoriuskop?

It should be fine with those on Voortrekker Rd - just go slowly. A small hatchback (possibly a Clio or an Aygo) passed us from behind, and we didn't find them in trouble further down the road, so obviously they got through with no problem.

The one on Fayi loop was rather deep - I would probably not attempt that one with a Getz.
