Media Release: Bird Club brightens up Park hide

A donation by the Graaff-Reinet Bird Club has brightened up the Camdeboo National Park’s Khwalimanzi Hide which is situated in the Game Viewing Area.

At the Bird Club’s AGM meeting on 2 May, the chairperson, Jerry Rose-Innes, and secretary, Judy Caryer, handed over two beautifully framed bird identification posters to the Park Manager, Peter Burdett.

The posters entitled Waterbirds of Southern Africa and Birds Endemic to Southern Africa are part of the Newman’s series and should prove of great benefit to visitors who require a little help with their identification of bird species.

Burdett thanked local birders for their generous donation and contribution to developing the Camdeboo National Park as a destination of choice.

Khwalimanzi Hide is situated in the Game Viewing Area of the park on the eastern shore of the Nqweba Dam. It is easily reached through the entrance gate at the park office off the N9 to Middleburg, by following the tourist route through the Broederstroom just past the entrance to the Nqweba campsite.

The hide gives visitors a place to rest and enjoy both sightings of birds and wildlife and the tranquillity of the Park.
